This scene was based on one of dozen KKK attacks on African-American homes and churches during the "Summer Of Terror" that occurred throughout the South in 1964. -- Last edit: 2015-10-23 07:12:37 |

1955-59 Task-Force truck with the 1958-59 dual headlamps and the 1959 only fender and hood end emblems. The short wheelbase and the 6-stud wheel indicate a ½-ton 31, which belong indeed to the 1958-61 light-duty Apache truck subline. As ½-ton pickup with a Stepside bed, it also has the 3104 Chevrolet model code. |

The truck used in the short, Mississippi Burning scene was a Chevrolet Apache - I know because it belonged to my husband, at the time, David A. Buck. We were paid a daily rate for the use of our truck.I had the pleasure of meeting the actors. |

Pretty beat up for a vehicle that was less than 5 years old in the moment when the story is taking place.... |

This film was set in Mississippi's rural area with a lot of back roads that are unpaved. In 1964, this vehicle was a vehicle of choice of KKK members as they were shown as working-class town's folk and farmers from the South's rural areas. -- Last edit: 2022-10-09 09:45:29 |
