Assuming its a new Caprice, 1988 |

1987! There is no distinction between an '87, an '88, or an '89 Caprice. The only difference that came in 1990 was the location of the seat belts (which obviously can't be seen in this shot). |

You're right. Which is why you need to provide a year range for all of these vehicles (1987-1990) and not just say they're all 1987 models as people reading your comment will think that it is specifically a 1987 model. |

@Animatronix any idea here? |

OMG! That... that is... That's clearly a Miesen body. On a Caprice! Christian Miesen. On Chevrolet Caprice! I repeat: Miesen body on Caprice. Capriesen body... Yeah, what's new? Just a Caprice wearing a Miesen body, no big deal, all good in da hood, just pass along, nothing special for you to see here... As if there were an actual Miesen-bodied Caprice, carrying a Miesen-body. OK, let's move on. ...is it still there? |

Thanks for these, @Bobjork I'm still perplexed and have no idea how that happened and without pictures I wouldn't have believed it exists! |

You can also see it on this page: https://svenskabrand.com/brand-och-ambulans/ Under the text "70-talet" In case you still don't believe your eyes |

Thank you! So there's two of them now - much better... Looks like it's the body they usually mounted on Opel Admiral chassis, but modified and fitted with different windows (because anything else would have become too costly, I reckon). |

or is it unique ? both the pic here and the link have the same plate ( note that i might have missed a curve somewhere.. ) |

Oh, yeah, you're right. I only checked the livery and warning devices, but not the plate. Feeling already better now! |

Yes, it is the same. I searched with the license plate and ambulans to see if I found more info. But I didn't- Just searching Chevrolet and ambulans gave a lot of results since they do make ambulances on Chevrolet today. But not on Caprice. The pic on the page it has different blue lights but they probably changed them to the more common with diagnonal blue lights that they used on ambulances in the 80s -- Last edit: 2022-12-15 18:32:39 |

Thank you, tried to search the VIN but it wasn't enough digits and the vehicle database was down at the moment. Anyway, there it was registered as "Chevrolet 1BN35" I got unsure if its was the correct vehicle first (when it is sold to a private person it changes from a ambulance to a "van" ("skåp") but after seeing another pic of it I was sure. And I also looked under "exemption" and there it says it has three passenger seats in the back and that sounds like something an ambulance would have |

This is the pre-modern VIN. I found a site that could decode old GM based VIN decoder that is useful here. |
