In the UK, this would be a Thames Estate 400E because of the over-riders, otherwise without them a 400E 10cwt Personnel Carrier which was more basic and purchase tax applied as a commercial vehicle I believe. It looks to have Ford added above the Thames badge so these were sold as 'Ford Thames' in Sweden I guess. |

Three variations of the bus body were produced. The 12 Seat Personnel Carrier had rear seats running lengthwise along the sides. The Standard Estate Car had 2 crosswise rear seats, the rearmost one being accessible via 1/3 of the frontmost seat pivoting forward. A Deluxe Estate Car was also produced with chrome bumper over-riders, chrome body trim..... In the UK the estate cars were classed as passenger vehicles and taxed as such whereas the personnel carriers were classed as commercial vehicles making the estate cars a more expensive purchase. In export markets the deluxe estate appears to have been called a Thames Express Bus according to sales brochures, but in Australia the whole range of buses seems to have been called Express bus. http://www.users.bigpond.com/wtcox/Untitled-4.htm Therefore Ford Thames Express Bus I believe. (Ford by the badging in the picture.) |

I found it in an Exhibition catalogue from Bilsalongen 1962, it looks exactly the same as this one and it´s named Ford Thames 800 Bus for our market. The licensenumber belonged to a Hudson in 1957 and it´s in a number series belonging to passenger vehicles so this one is likely to be an 8 passenger vehicle, like the one in the catalogue, and taxed as a car. The bus looks new and I guess it was supplied by Ford for the filming so it´s likely to be a 1960 model. I don´t know, but I suppose it would be correct to keep it as [400E], so it would be: 1960 Ford Thames 800 Bus [400E], made for S |

License plate A54841. A = Stockholms stad. This number belonged to a 1951 Hudson in 1957, as mentioned above. |
