Although they might not be the only one to do so, Crayford carried out the convertible conversions I believe on the Cortina. |

If I recall,in the episode it was in,it was portrayed as having very poor brakes, and the "oil" light stayed on...until Del-Boy "fixed it" by taking out the bulb!!!(Of course,he was trying to sell this heap?? ) |

Series 1, Episode 2 He sold it to an Australian man for £150 more than he bought it In the same episode Rod and Del are looking after Boycies E-Type (a present for his wife, Marlene) Then the boys fancy going out to the clubs to pull a few girls, butcan't do that in a 3 wheeled van, so they take the Jag (also listed). On the way back from the club, Rodney throws an empty Cigar packet out of the car, which happened to have the womens telephone numbers on. When Rodney tells him what he had done, Del slams on the brakes and the Cortina he had sold slams straight into the back of the Jag. The Australian says "sorry mate, the brakes are a bit spoungy on this thi...YOU! I WANT A WOURD WITH YOU!" Del and Rodney get out of the car and just run off |

1967 E plate. A sad waste if it was a true Crayford, but I'm not convinced. |

In 1981 it would have been just another 14 year old car, but now even in the state it would be worth a lot more. The original script discribes the car as a Zephyr, so I guess John Sullivan just thinking about an older Ford. |

After googling Crayford pics, I'm now prepared to believe it was a proper one - the reduced rear side window and header rail look right, although hood is less certain. eg Link to "www.simoncars.co.uk" , http://planefacts.co.uk/cars/cortina/pages/fordcortinamk2f_jpg.htm , http://www.flickr.com/photos/triggerscarstuff/5828720000/ . |

Has been announced for early 2022 by Oxford Diecast as the 4th livery of their recent 1:43 Crayford Cortina casting - advance picture (which seems to be exactly the same angle as main - I wonder if they used it as their source???) OXL (or DXL) 825E plate is fake. GT side badge on Oxford model may or may not be accurate for the screen car. |
