I think the first year for the Explorer Eddie Bauer was 1993. Can anyone else confirm this? |

Nope, there was a Eddie Bauer version of the Exploder for the 1991 model year ... |

Exploder?? Surely, Neptune, you can't mean that ... |

I drove one of the first Explorer, a late 1991-model, during my "autodriveaway"-trip in 1993 from Denver to Cape Giradeau/Missouri. It was running not too bad (not fast, but it's an American car). The problem was the condition. It was a civil car from a railway-company. It was not even 2 years old, but dirty as hell. If you deliver a "autodriveaway"-car, you have to clean it before - I had to clean it before the start. Seats, dashboard, handles, everything was sticky and greasy. To mount an extra light, the guys had drilled two big holes in the A-pillar, which was made noise and let cold air into the car. I covered the holes with some "Wyoming 90"-license-plate-stickers, I got before on the world meeting for plate-collectors. The Explorer was running strange, the feeling was like a pudding or so. I don't know, if the suspension or the tires had caused it. With very high tire-pressure it was getting a little bit better. -- Last edit: 2008-01-06 17:49:30 |
