Those rearlights are aftermarket, for sure. The 2CV is an AZU, not an AK (shorter rear), 1963-1969. Supposing that the amber rear indicators are original, it has to be a 1969 version. |

I don't think so... When these 2CV were sold in the USA as new cars, they had the rear lights like European models (usually the Belgian built ones). Most probably this car has been imported as second hand, like many others. I think 2CV newer than circa 1966 are not allowed on US roads, but it is rather easy to fool the authorities: they don't see the differences between older and newer models, so you just need some documents of an older car, that's all The original rearlights were rather small (comparable to those of a Landrover). |

I've been a 2CV driver for over 27 years, now; also I used to be the secretary of the Dutch pre-1970 2CV club (when I had a 1956 Belgian built AZL). And just crazy about (French) cars .gif ";)") |

I've never known of them being sold new here,but there are quite a few here that were privately exported in? Many places,it's either a rolling 25 or 30 yr for "antique" or "classic" status,most I've seen were registered as such? |
