Looks lwb rear door (so Oct 72+ as option, became standard format Sept 74). Opening front quarterlights were I think S1 only, and thin steering wheel suggests early. Colour co-ordinated coachline smells Jag; I think Daimler coachlines were black or white. But only some of each had coachlines, so not definite.

My memory on this is not good so I had to do some checking...

It was only with the Series III that a fully dropping one-piece front glass was fitted I believe, I was involved with the changes to the front door itself, and there were only minor internal changes for Series II. After the Series II with the quarterlights the changes to the Series III were far more extensive. (The XJ-C Series II was the exception with its complex and heavy front glass system.)

Agreed it is a LWB rear door glass, I cannot say about the rim thickness for the steering wheel, only that it appears a central padded boss was added to the slim spokes on the Series I.

My source for fixed/hinged quarterlight comment was this
Sunbar wrote Series II I believe, front quarter-lites fixed and not hinged.

Learnt something new, never realised that Series II could have fixed quarterlights and I've looked at a few Jaguar doors, too many in fact.

I also cannot remember if the series I doors were all electric or had manual/electric options? Later I guess they became all electric, maybe that had something to do with the fixed quarterlights but possibly not?

Leccy windows seems a gradual spread from top of range downwards from a scattering of Glass's comments. They were optional from start, even on 2.8 XJ6 S1 at bottom of tree. First reference to standard fit comes with Daimler D6 VdP S1 in Sept 72, with comment repeated for Sovereign 4.2 VdP launch April 75 in S2 era. But April 75 was also launch of poverty XJ6 3.4 which is described as similar to 4.2 but without power windows, and the Sovereign 3.4 (June 75) entry states power windows not available.

So my guess is S1 - only one version D6 VdP had them as standard (but were optional on everything); S2 revamp adopted as standard across many/most versions. If so, quarterlight progression seems independent sequence??

The performance of the series I electric windows was quite poor but the quality improvements for series II was a big improvement and probably cut warranty claims by a big margin.

The XJ-C always had more problems with high glass weight and sealing issues, and on the saloon the improvements on series III went still further. Interior noise and elimnination of wind noise was always an objective for Jaguar so possibly in addition to cost reductions, the Series II quarterlights were fixed to eliminate another sealing issue.
