What's an Apollo? Is that a compact or a subcompact or what? And what are it's other GM sister models (Chevy Pontiac, Olds, etc...)? |

This car is a 1978 Buick Skylark. The Apollo was a small, entry-level Buick on the GM X Platform, and was only made from 1973-75. It was similar to the Chevrolet Nova, Oldsmobile Omega, and Pontiac Ventura of the same time period. -- Last edit: 2008-01-25 01:49:07 |

the Apollo was the predecessor to the Skylark, they look almost identical, the Apollo was not on the X platform, cars like the Chev Citation was, X-platform= front wheel drive http://www.cars-on-line.com/29831.html |

Cougar Tim is right, this is a 1978 Buick Skylark and it's also a X body. The Apollo, the pre-1973 Ventura II, 1973-77 Ventura, 1977-79 Phoenix, pre-1980 Omega, pre-1980 Nova and 1975-79 Skylark were all built on the RWD semi-unitized X platform. In 1980, there was a new generation of X platform that was fully unitized and FWD unlike the former generation. |
