This is what is known as a Showmans Engine. That is an electrical generator mounted above the boiler and is used to drive fairground equipment. I think this one is a Burrell from the mid 1920s. |

I don't know this particular engine, but the copper capped chimney certainly suggests Burrell and it is a showman's engine without a doubt. The larger engines were called "Scenic" or even "Super Scenic" as a descrition of the size of the rides that they could power and light. |
