WW1, probably Coventry built. No clue from commentary who it was. |

Metropolitan Carriage and Wagon Mark -- I presume. According to Wikipedia some of the MkIV was built at the Coventry Ordnance Works so perhaps this is supposed to be that? |

This exact film footage also here /vehicle_135715-Metropolitan-Carriage-and-Waggon-Mark-V-1918.html Assigning it to being a Coventry manufactured tank is rather doubtful with the limited amount of WWI footage available. -- Last edit: 2021-06-14 15:36:54 |

1. Some built at Coventry Ordnance Factory. 2. Daimler engines. |

Just pointing out a (Coventry built) MkIV is a different identification from the Poirot appearance as a mark V also as Alexander said "Impossible to say what the main picture shows, as the side sponsons are not visible; so male, female or even a hermaphrodite with sliding doors instead of sponsons." |

It appears that the earliest original film which this movie footage was taken from is 'The Somme' released in 1927 a mixture of original and recreated scenes. The Somme on IMDb.com The re-enactment scenes use the typical silent-movie over emphasised actor's movements and it should be possible to determine newsreel footage compared with the later 1920's filmed content. I intend to look at te whole almost 2 hour long movie in the next few days. -- Last edit: 2021-06-15 20:15:33 |
