DAF555 ◊ 2005-12-20 19:10	I´m not absolutely sure about the Ford numbers, but I think these numbers came up after Model A and usually they correspond with the modelyear in two series. One for the Standard and one for the De Luxe, but there are of course exceptions from that rule as well... In 1933 there was Model 46 with the 4 cylinder engine, and Model 40 with the V8. 1934 the 4 cylinder was dicontinued, and the slightly facelifted V8 continued as Model 40A. But the cars have names corresponding more or less to these codes, so I think the code belongs amongst the extra info. I guess more people would be familiar with 1947 Ford Super De Luxe, than the Model 79A.
