Or GL. No Ghia badge on wing and head restraints are hollow, not solid padded Ghia spec.

I agree the Ghia badge is missing, but I think the padded part of the headrests was detachable. The GL didn't have so much chrome trim - for instance the one surrounding the indicators and continuing at the edge of the bonnet.

Y-registration is clearly visible etched onto side glass in close-up shots.

Two in this week's episode - this hero Escort, and a second, which gets crushed by an armoured car.

......

Etched security markings on the side glass visible in the final scene are LHY883Y...

My car check and HPI check for LHY883Y, 1982 Ford Escort Ghia (5 Door Hatchback)

The crushed escort is not a MKIII. Its a MKIV with the front of the bonnet chopped off. The big indicator is the loss of the distinctive grille with built in lights

The chrome hubcaps also easily identify main pic as a Ghia

the crushed escort is not a mk iv as thet never had a steel lower valance under the plastic bumper
and the grille is a optional extra brought fron the ford brochure

Just wondering anyone else had spot this one is not the "hero" one (I.e. Alex had bork to the wrong tree form the start of the episode.) by how the front end looks in this exact sence like I do , the first time watch that episode.

:??: hence my post starting by "Here is the other Escort", itself following a post stating that they used another Escort than the "hero" one

I mean.....when people watch that episode for the first time on screen(not this page , but the episode itself , before read this page), how many will notice this car is not the car that explode before the final reveal.

ok, you mean "anyone else" in the general audience :) Indeed, that's the kind of thing that tends not being very noticeable when watching the episode; here with still pictures we see it much more easily.
