The vehicle details for FK 8117 are: Date of Liability 01 05 2008 Date of First Registration 13 05 1937 Year of Manufacture Not Available Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1701CC Vehicle Colour BLACK Another Standard Flying Twelve or larger, a Fourteen? |

The cylinder capacity of 1706 cc as indicated on the vehicle details is somewhat puzzling. In 1937 , the Standard Flying Twelve had a cylinder capacity of 1608 cc and the Standard Flying Fourteen of 1776 cc but could also be had with the 1608 cc engine. This , the indication giving more than 1700 cc in the vehicle details and a lower error margin with 1776 cc although still important in my opinion points to a 1937 Flying Standard Fourteen in the absence of a side view. |

With the lack accuracy of data on the DVLA register Standard Flying Fourteen, is quite likely at 1776 cc. I guess when information was transferred from paper-based records a lot of errors were made, even if the original data was correct. |
