This one has me beaten I think.

I can find no similar construction, with the (single?) cylinder set so far back in the centre of the boiler and with a short smoke-box. I guess it could be a less common manufacturer but can find nothing similar.

Any comments or suggestions, Alexander?

I have just been looking myself. I haven't found it so far, but it is a Burrell Traction Engine, probably 8 n.h.p. 12 ton and around 100 years old.

This one is comparable:

Well done! This Burrell also has similar proportions...

OK its from New Zealand so cannot be the actual engine but looks very similar to me?

Alexander, my best suggestion is that it could be this 1909 Burrell Traction Engine No. 3148 seen here in 2006 in New Zealand. It looks identical to me.

But previous to this it was listed as being in the UK at the Welland Steam Rally as held in Worcestershire...

What do you think?

edit. Additional information also possibly in the UK in 2000 at the Essex Steam Rally at Barleylands.

Comment posted as follows (however the picture shown confusingly looks to be another different engine?)

http://steam-up.co.uk/essex_steam_2k/wks_3148_esr2k.htm

"1909 Burrell SC 8nhp Traction Engine Works No. 3148
This engine left the Burrell works on 30th September 1909 and arrived on 3rd December at Reid & Gray, the Burrell agents in Dunedin, New Zealand. From 1910 until at least 1929 the engine was used for general agricultural work."

Yes, Sunbar, you found it.

I ruled it out when I first saw that picture, as New Zealand is a bit too far away to take part in the GDSF. But of course the Welland Steam and Country Rally is not that far away: http://www.wellandsteamrally.co.uk/index.htm

Obviously it was sold to NZ or the owner is really rich and can afford to travel the world with his toy!

The 'Steam Up' picture shows a different engine, but I would for the 'Steam Scenes' identification.

... yes, the expense of shipping tons of traction engine halfway around the world is probably a lot more than the value of the engine itself.

:/
