Supposedly this was rebodied after the film and went on to work up until 2003. -- Last edit: 2015-02-28 21:46:26 |

This is not an International but a bus body on a late thirties 1937-39 White with the semi-streamline design by Almexis de Sakhnoffsky |

Apprently this went on to be rebodied after the film , a detailed book about the Malta Buses lists the bus as an International, could it be this was an International fitted with a White front or maybe a clerical error ??? -- Last edit: 2015-02-28 21:56:40 |

White or International then? I know the appearance of many Malta buses can be very confusing. ![]() But would that also apply in the past, between 1938 and 1953, as well? |

Well, how shall we list this one? ![]() |

If this actual vehicle is quoted as being originally based on an International that should be how its listed. I see that SteveA's website also lists it as an International... http://www.busesonscreen.net/screen/screenfmm.htm |

There is no International that looks like this. This is definitely a White. |

This is a White. If you're not sure of the model, you can call it a Model 700 or a 700-Series. http://www.coachbuilt.com/bui/w/white/white.htm |

Sorry for butting in after all these years ![]() 5292 (1936 to 1952) In 1936 a new Private Hire licence was granted and the first bus allocated was a 25-seat White. In January 1943 an application was made for 5292 to pass to the Mellieha route to replace 2392 on that route which had been damaged by enemy action – with the vacant licence of 2392 technically transferring to the Private Hire roster. If this went ahead, then 5292 was back on the Private Hire roster by May 1945. In July 1945 the seating was increased from 25 to 27. In October 1947 a Thornycroft TR6 diesel engine (number 890) was fitted. The bus was withdrawn and replaced in October 1952. |

Have entered as White Model 706 as that seems to be direction of most comments. White fans could usefully look at our White collection and decide if we're double-entering these 70x models as eg 706 and Model 706 and perhaps choose one or the other format. |
