Convertible into what? There is no weather equipment except an aero screen, no wings, and an external exhaust, doesn’t that make it a racing car? |

Racing car description reinforced by the single aero screen with little thought for the co-driver/passenger. Looking at Riley Specials, generally they were fitted in pairs and retained the wings. Its engine/chassis and development as a Special is going to throw up more than the usual Riley problems I guess. |

I think we can start with the apparently four cylinder engine, so reducing the options to about four thousand possibilities. We also see a four into one? exhaust pipe, with no silencer, just some asbestos binding so that nobody burns their arm. -- Last edit: 2022-01-08 13:49:46 |

Again you are not taking the circumstances into account. It's a prewar Riley in Sweden. I think the chances are pretty good that it's this one: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/17/Riley_Brooklands_1930.jpg |

^ Comparing it with the linked 1930 Riley Brooklands in Sweden, the differences in headlamp mounting positions and bonnet shapes makes it unlikely I believe.![]() |

... and longer scuttle on JCC 091, which to toss an idea into the ring looks a lot like a 1927-ish Nine Brooklands, and probably only has a single exhaust on the far side. |

I guess like many cars that have a competition history it has received updates and modifications and its true origins may be less obvious. |
