Don't know much about these vintage plates, but I think fake plates weren't used or required by the productions companies or the DMV unitl the '80s, so I'd quess they're real. Maybe 58Roadmaster knows? |

Definitely fake. The J and the 6 are too squared in shape, and JTR is too early a letter combination for a '59 Ford (should have begun with R or S - see the '59 cars on the dealer lot in "Psycho" for example). The 6 on the police car plate looks correct but the digits on that one are spaced too far apart. Give the art director a little credit, though - for scenes set in 1960 in a 1964 movie, I'm surprised they even bothered to get the correct year plate! Of course, Shelby Cobras weren't around in 1960... ![]() |
