The Chevrolet SUV is already listed. |

The white car looks like a GEO Storm. I'm thinkinking the sideways car in front of the GEO is a Mazda 626. Comments?? -- Last edit: 2008-03-24 15:33:56 |

Think the silver is a Nissan Sentra. The Geo Storm looks to be the 2nd gen w/o the pop up headlights. |

How about the Mercedes-Benz 300 SD? |
◊ 2008-03-24 21:34 |
I also see a late 80's- early 90's Grand Am |

Real plate, jettalover? |
◊ 2008-03-25 03:19 |
Heck yah, real plate. It's not the original CALIF plate for the car though. This plate was issued at some point during 1990. The newest this Benz could be is a '85 since there is no third brake lamp. -- Last edit: 2008-03-25 03:20:33 |

I think that the Mazda is a 323, not a 626. the other cars: Suv GMC, Geo Storm, 300 SD and the other I don't know |
◊ 2008-03-25 20:44 |
I think it is not a 300 SD... They will never use SD...(Even on Dutch plates this combination is not used) |
◊ 2008-03-25 21:14 |
I guess for most Americans the combination SD will not provoke so many problems since they didn't suffer under direct German occupation (SD = Sicherheitsdienst = nazi intelligence and espionage service). And one could even wonder why Mercedes-Benz didn't change their logo, after 1945... |

There was a 300 SD, it was a US-only model. In the same way, there were many SS models in the US cars, you won't find that here (the S.S. make was renamed to Jaguar...) |

So in the Netherlands there is the same discussion about letter-combinations on license-plate like in Germany? Over here it's also forbidden or restricted, to have a plate with SA, SS, HJ, KZ and als NS - but sometimes it happens, that plates with such historic problematical combinations were issued. In my former hometown there war a 1982 VW Polo running with H-SS 33. "NS" for "Nationalsozialismus" But in NL "NS" seems not too probematical: www.ns.nl -- Last edit: 2008-03-26 08:35:40 |

Haha, NS -> Dutch Railways (Nederlandse Spoorwegen) The Dutch license plate system is very complicated. We have a various in series, and within this series the marks used are different. In some series KZ is not used, in another it is. SS and SD is never used. We do not use A, E, I etc. but there are exceptions (Oldtimes for example). |

From my German view I had always the impression, that the Dutch system is much more simple than the German one. I don't know, if there is any country else, where you have such a variety of license-plate as in Germany. I don't mean the different letters for counties and biggers towns, more the other details. But I've learned also, that the Danish system is very detailed, too. Before that, I thought about only three differences: white with red stripe around: private cars. Yellow: commercial cars. Black: pre 1974. I was totally wrong. |

Chevrolet is best known for the SS. In this case it means "Super Sport," and most people know that's what it is. |
◊ 2008-03-27 17:46 |
Well, for sure Chevy's SS does not mean Schutzstaffel |

I think the "D" part is intended for Diesel model. I have seen Mercedes-Benz end with suffix "D" from the model number at the trunk on the left side and on the right it would say either Diesel or Turbodiesel. Clearly stated at 2nd paragraph at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbodiesel wikipedia web site. I also see other model ending with "E" and read somewhere it stands for Einspritzung or fuel injection gasoline engine. -- Last edit: 2008-03-29 02:54:54 |

Of course, yes. This is a common point of many European cars actually, a name ending by D for diesel versions (or containing a D, e.g. BMW's d/td, Peugeot's HDI, VW's TDI, Mercedes's SD/CID, or D or TD models of various makes) |

The S in Mercedes Benz 300 SD Turbo Diesel stands for "Sedan". |

it looks more like a 1987 or a 1988 model and you can tell by the grille and the trunk lid |
◊ 2011-05-18 21:34 |
ummm... you can't see the grille or the deck lid of the Grand Am in this capture, are you saying that you saw them in the actual movie? |
◊ 2011-05-28 03:39 |
if you look close enough in the capture of Jill hanging on the door of the truck you can see the deck lid |
