Handsome car, hope it sells better than the Aussie GTO. |

Well it is more or less a Holden Commodore VE. The GTO being a kind of coupé version of the Commodore, this one is then not much different ![]() -- Last edit: 2008-03-29 23:13:30 |

The GTO we got was from the last generation. This is a new model with more distinctive (if somewhat derivative) styling. The new Holden coupe looks good. |

Is V8 really a part of the trim level name? Aren't all GT models equipped with a V8? |
◊ 2008-12-07 00:43 |
Not sure, in aus, this is the SS, which has a V*, so V* may not be part of the model name... |

I agree with car nerd, it is a very handsome car, it even looks good in base trim (i.e. it does not look cheap, as most vehicles tend to look cheap in base trim) The GT version in Black or Red (like the one above) is the one I like. |

Yes, the base level still looks nice-see this Commodore /vehicle_202053-Holden-Commodore-VE-2008.html |

Its an awesome car. Exactly what a Pontiac should be like. Only bummer is, its not something Americans can be proud of because we didn't make it. ![]() |

Well, the Australians should certainly be proud of this car, its already started to win several awards/accolades. There are other things Americans can be proud of, like getting George Bush out of office. |
◊ 2008-12-07 03:01 |
Yeah but he got in twice. We could be proud of getting Obama in instead of McCain! Heh.. Regarding the G8, its on sale now isn't it? |
◊ 2008-12-07 04:00 |
Yes, its been available for a while now. I would love to see it used in a major movie (can you say high-speed chase like the one Pontiac provided a Grand AM for in Lethal Weapon 4) I’d love to see the G8 run down the bad guys and rub fenders. |
◊ 2008-12-07 05:01 |
Agreed, Neptune, I was thinking that it would be neat if someone remade the chase from the Seven-Ups with a GTO and a G8, not that I am all that fond of remakes. |

Well, I know that silly! So it’s a poor excuse for an example, it’s the only thing I could think of at the time ... ![]() |

It sucks GM cancelled their plans for the G8 ST (Sport Truck). It would've been nice to see a car/pickup on the road. |
◊ 2010-04-12 19:47 |
Indeed. I'm still seething over the Pontiac debacle. Oh, and all GTs have a V8. It isn't part of the name. |

Kind of an ugly car in my opinion (I hate it when they try to make cars look "sporty"). The wagon and pickup truck versions would have been something unique, however. |

This is a G8 GT. Base G8's have dual exhaust outlets. GT and GXP versions have quad exhaust outlets and the GXP has a different rear diffuser from the GT and base models. Those are the base 18" GT wheels. |

Might be the chassis in Australia but newly found information from 'The Complete Book of Pontiac' lists GM's chassis for these as [GMX557]: Link to "books.google.com" |
