That makes it more interesting - it's a Mk3 1800, presumably in DK, but dressed up to look British with a Cortina Mk3, Escort van. possibly a Transit, and a clumsy phone box. Landcrabs in DK had funny names which get a bit messy. Austin was named Windsor for first few years of Mk1 era, but renamed back to 1800 when Morris arrived (67?) as Monaco, which lasted for remainder of Mk 1 and to end of Mk2. At some point during Monaco phase I think they dropped the Austin, when previously separate distribution and dealer chains were combined. So at start of Mk3, Morris reigned supreme. Some sources (eg ARonline say Monaco name was dropped so just Morris 1800 (and newly added 2200), which seems to match badging (front and rear) on this DK red Mk3 1800 (which has same 1800 grille as seen in thumb above), although the page title is "Austin-Morris 1800 Monaco". But this red DK Mk3 2200 is listed as "Morris Monaco 2,2" and looks like Morris and Monaco 2200 grille badges So I'm going for Morris Monaco 1800. |
