Doesn't look AEC grille. Leyland??

Certainly is, but the angle makes it difficult to split RTL from RTW.

BTW, I am, very slowly, trying to formulate a theory about wheel nut rings, but, like Rolls-Royce headlights, it’s a bit hit and miss.

My analysis of rear views, is that its the wider RTW.

Looking at the left edge of the lower deck window it would be almost directly inline with the left side of the destination board on the RT and RTL buses, the RTW has a visible space between the two.

I wish you well in your efforts, but as a wild card, the degree of refurbishment/replacement cycles every few years at Aldenham/Chiswick (as mentioned here) may be problematic. Whatever they may have originally been fitted with in 50s might well have been superseded by 60s and 70s??

I am surprised that someone of your extensive learning and perspicacity did not distil from what was written that I have no intention of actually using the theory. It’ll be far too loose and floppy for that.

Its likely this is KGK 542, RTW 123 in 1969 as the Chiswick skid bus if filmed directly for the documentary. In 1970 the year of the documentary, RTW 475 LLU 965 was in use.

Previously RTW 10 KGK 510 (1966/7) and RTW 42 KGK 542 (1964/5) were used, so both are possible if its stock footage.

Skid pan buses found here http://www.countrybus.org/RT/RTWa.htm

AEC RT Class skid pan buses included these...
RT 686 JXC 49
RT1530 KGU 290
RT1615 KLB 737
RT2143 KGK 952
RT2189 KGU 118

I guess its not a complete list since the bus histories on Ian's Bus Stop website cannot be 100% complete.

Looking at the main picture and the second thumb reading the registration numbers as the only number '1' as the middle numeral, it looks to be stock footage of RTW 10 'KGK 510' in 1966/7 as the skid test bus.

Another skid pan bus in a similar 1947 "this is what we do" LT film - CLE 76 (STL1126) here.
