Based upon the 1934 Cowley, but for 1935 renamed as Twelve-Four. As usual in the thirties, named for the fiscal horsepower of the engine, which was in its turn calculated from the cylinder bore dimension and number of cylinders. Not a Ten-Four, the radiator is mounted further forward in the chassis giving it a more nose heavy look, and there is no tie-bar between the headlamps with the hooter mounted on it as there would have been on those cars. Not a Ten-Six, which had a “Six” script on the grille. The 1548cc engine went on to have a distinguished career in the 10cwt and Y-type vans, and later Twelves. 1935 Morris Twelve-Four is correct, as can be found by reference to both S&G and Jon Pressnell’s book “Morris The cars and the company”. -- Last edit: 2022-10-22 14:09:08 |
