It's absolutely o.k. as a rental car for some days in vacations for example. For that purpose I had such a Swift, in 1993 on Corfu/Greece. The damages it had were caused by the bad treatment of the rental car company, not by the car itself.

And not to forget: not for the first time the ADAC-statistics has found out, that Suzuki and Subaru have the most satisfied customers. :p

It sounds very promising, but i'll stay with vintage American cars ;)
