Derby Bentley for sure. It si not possible to be exact on the engine size which could be either 3669 cc (31/2 litre) or 4257 cc (41/4 litre) but the coachwork is almost certainly the Park Ward standard saloon which suggests a 31/2 litre rather than the later model. -- Last edit: 2008-06-08 16:16:19 |

Park Ward Saloons were abundant on both 3.5 and 4.25 litre Bentley's, however the style of this particular car is more 3.5 litre |

3 1/2 litre as it has the earlier small sidelights |

Derby Bentley Society will be having a item in our next newsletter covering the many variations of the 3 1/2L Park Ward bodies. In the picture taken from the left rear you can see the waist line following down the side of the boot. I have not seen this in any of the Park Ward Sport Saloon examples (waist line goes up instead of down and follows the bottom of the rear window). So I don't think it is a Park Ward. A mild argument to say that it is a 4 1/4L is that the mascot is from an overdrive "M"-series car (tilts backwards and is required to be turned 90 degrees to open the bonnet), the last of the 4 1/4L but they can be swapped easily enough and I have seen this done on the earlier series ... so not definitive. |
