This appears to be a 1966 or 1967 Simca 1000 GLS with US-Specs. You could tell if it was a 1967 if you could see back-up lights in the back. The door mirror was standard in 1967, too (but optional in 1966, so it is not a give-away). Matt Cotton Lake Parsippany, NJ |

Not 1118 then? by the way I don't know from where this number 1118 (instead of 1000) comes from? |

No, the Simca 1118 was ONLY sold in the United States and ONLY in 1969. In 1969, the Simca 1000 was brought to the US with the 6cv, 1118cc engine, instead of the former 5cv, 944cc engine. It was called 1118 because Chrysler was using the engine cc's for model names, including the 1204 (Simca 1100). The Simca 1118 had MANY rare bits on it, used only in the United States, including front and rear bumper overrider bars, additional front lighting, side reflectors, back-up lights, front seat headrests, front shoulder belts and "safety" interior door handles that were not easy to open accidentally. Plus, there was a "Simca 1118" emblem on the front fenders. For just one year and only in the US (and Canada), and I'm sure they didn't sell very many!! Here, you can see the 1968 Simca 1000, too, with unique lighting and bumper overriders. /vehicle_178526-Simca-1118.html The 1969 1118 was similar, but included the wrap-around front blinkers (shared with the rest of the world), and the trapazoidal taillights. And, here is the 1965 Simca 1000 with US Specs - someone is mislabeling these Simca 1118. /vehicle_178526-Simca-1118.html |

I think it's a 1000 1965 http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3357/3476372906_4ba7642fbe.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3600/3474584706_d88b191838.jpg The 1118, front is very different http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3177/3473778159_911722be6d.jpg Link to "lh6.ggpht.com" |

The car in the picture above is a 1966 or 1967, you can tell because the dashboard is the horizontal type, introduced in 1966. The original dashboard, 1961 - 1965 has the hooded instrument in front of the driver. In Bruno's links, above, the first two are my 1965 Sedan, but the last one is Pierre's 1969 1118 Sedan. In the United States, the Simca 1000 was renamed Simca 1118 because of the 1118cc, 6cv engine. Matt Cotton Lake Parsippany, NJ |

Can't be 1968+ car, indeed. Where are sidemarkers? |

Let's write 1967. |

I agree. 1967 is a safe guess given what we know and can see. |
