50s Austin. Too big for A40?? |

If there are no “bullet” shaped sidelights, that eliminates Somerset and Hereford, leaving the choice of Hampshire or Devon/Dorset. As this picture is so viciously cropped it eliminates almost all identification options, but my best attempt would be a Hampshire. John Arlott rides again! -- Last edit: 2023-07-25 09:29:28 |

I was thinking Hampshire as well, but despite reservations can't definitely exclude Devon. Whichever it's an early one without quarterlights, so before Sept 49 (UK date but later Aus builds did also adopt them)) |

Pity, no other view. |

I'd say have found golden key. ![]() A70 had 'flip-flop' air inlet under windshield, A40 hadn't. The air inlet could indicating the heater on board, however much more probable on A70. |

Yes, I think so, the flap could mean the optional heater. I suppose heater's absence is more probable on A40 than A70. |

Also check the way the wipers park - compare this Oz A40 with the jfs A70 pic above. |
