This is actually a 1980-83 Kadett D, the 1979 model was still the Kadett C. It's also a base model which used round headlamps vs. rectangular on the more lux versions. |

'The big tailgate' refers to the fact the base model Kadett/Astra was for a short time available also as a sedan with a small trunk lid and fixed rear window rather than the full sized rear tailgate. |

Correct - and the big tailgate has cost extra charge (same as Volkswagen did with the Passat [Typ32]) |
