I'm guessing J1. It's not a baby J0, but I don't see twin rear wheels which (I think) identify J2.

This is very odd.
All the lighter J 's had wings with peaks over head lights.
Thr heavier ones ( 5 ton capacity and above ) had smooth wings.
Seems a needless variation but
Perhaps it was for extra width.

Anyway this is a light single wheel 30 cwt load version with the 5 ton + cab.
I have seen a converted 4x4 version like this but this does not appear to be a 4x4 .
I have also vague memories of a SA one similar on IMCDB.

Could it have been restored, and during the process the owner found less rotten front wings which he replaced?

Would they fit without too much trouble?

Agreed as JCB's comments, J1 20/25cwt light truck; this used 16" wheels for low-load height and weight savings on chassis.

This resulted in closer clearance wheel-arch wings compared to heavier variants. The Heartbeat truck looks to have the 16" wheels but larger section tyres, increasing the overall tyre diameter, resulting in the change to the front wings from J5-J8 (which had 20" wheels).

The wings and grille would all have to be changed but from the bonnet and bulkhead backwards the lighter and heavier cabs would be the same.

Also unlikely to be 4x4 for the reason probably not 20" wheels.

"Vague memories of SA" 4x4 version I think here.
Which deserves further investigation. edit: Now revised to Bedford J1 on 16" wheels and not 4x4.

SA import maybe ?
The SA version quoted is a 4x2
Posibly SA used same front end on all models.
Which sounds sensible to me😊

It could be an import from SA, yes but how likely I don't know.

GM South Africa (and New Zealand but probably not Australia) appear to have used the J5 cab in place of the lighter version, but apparently not always?

Another truck from the TV series 'Härte 10', with the J1-J4 cab here /vehicle_1384895-Bedford-J.html

Bit of a mystery really.
The pick up style body may point to it being an import.
Would be nice to see it in daylight.
