This scene was an reenactment of the attempted murder of Neddy Smith who was ran down by rival gangster; Terrence "Terry" Ball outside the Iron Duke Hotel Alexandria, NSW on the afternoon of the 6th April 1986. Terry Ball was a former boxer and associate of Smith's rival gangster and major heroin supplier; Barry McCann who and his gang operated out of McCann's hotel; the Lansdowne at Chippendale, NSW. Ball was charged with Smith's attempted murder but was acquitted, it was suspected that Smith's attempted murder was a revenge attack as Ball was shot in the head by Smith's associate and friend; Graham "Abo" Henry during a dispute in 1983. Ball had survived the shooting, shortly after the attempt on Neddy Smith, Ball was charged with Smith's attack and was released on bail. -- Last edit: 2021-01-28 10:20:00 |
