Not a sedan/saloon I think by the divided front windscreen and general appearance. Possibly a 1940s Royal Mail post office van (GPO) by the rear oval window with wires. Morris-Commercial? but cannot be certain from the details visible. edit: similar bodywork here but chassis manufacturer could be different... http://www.morriscommercialclub.ournet.co.uk/PIC00053.jpg -- Last edit: 2008-08-06 12:51:34 |

Morris-Commercial GPO or Post Office Telephones yes, but bigger than that one. I'd suggest this, but I'm not sure of the capacity (15cwt.? 1 ton?) http://home.freeuk.com/s-parrott/po-images/omv4.jpg [Edit] 15cwt. - this one's identified as such: http://home.freeuk.com/s-parrott/po-images/omv31.jpg -- Last edit: 2008-08-06 16:59:15 |

All links have now gone so a problem confirming the identification, Morris-Commercial is a fair bet. However, 1940 Morris-Commercial 15 cwt is strange, except possibly for PO contracts where they are conservative with capacity, so likely to be 1-ton. Morris-Commercial after about 1933 were 1-ton or above I believe. . |

Found at last, Morris rather than Morris-Commercial. edit: 1940 Morris Series Z 5cwt Van Post Office Telephones /'Post Office Telephones' as it may not have also be used as a Post Office 'Royal Mail' van. ![]() ![]() source: https://www.britishtelephones.com/vehicles/minorvans/111.htm Bonnet and bonnet catch, rounded front wing with fire extinguisher and headlamp all match plus the GPO in-house purpose built body. -- Last edit: 2021-12-26 17:02:09 |
