This one does actually look quite genuine, and early 60s was still before the custom-built Barris era. Back then people would do all sort of crazy things with the vehicles of that "jolly, gay era when we were silly people driving around in hilarious old cars". Right before sitting down to their real uranium science kits and putting on their boxing ball reflex headstraps. |

So the Disneyland Fire Engine debuted at the park in 1958. It's design was inspired by early 20th century fire engines, and was designed by Disney Imagineering legend Bob Gurr. It's about 5/8th scale of a real fire engine I feel like make is Disney, even if that shoots us in the foot for the future. Maybe Custom Made for Disney is the better way to do it. Model is "Main Street Fire Engine", and I would have 1958 as the year. (even though it is designed as an earlier engine). |
