They used at least two vehicles. A first one tuned by "Mahag Tuning München":![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And another one with a lot of 007 like gimmicks: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2015-01-28 12:01:57 |

The Mahag Tuning beetle could be an 1600 cm3 version with 80 hp an the extra front oil cooler for "Die MAHAG-Stufe 3": http://www.kaeferfriseure.de/index.php?pageid=15 |

More than two. This one is an older, terribly cobbled mongrel: http://pics.imcdb.org/3890/01_21_22-2015-01-27-14h27m59s142.jpg Annother mongrel (1968/69 with 1972+ engine lid): http://pics.imcdb.org/3890/01_12_42-2015-01-27-14h12m08s70.jpg -- Last edit: 2015-01-28 20:49:04 |

![]() It's not even a bdly faked plate on the maon pic, it's also the fact, that at the time, when this clip was made, there were no Mexican made Beetles in Europe. They came after the end of the German production in 1977. |

Seems the flooded one is even pre-1965. |

These films were never great with continuity, but I'd say the appearance of 'Dudu' was most consistent in this one (and a huge improvement on the first! clearly there was more of a budget here). I like the look of the tuning bug with all it's mod's, and the shots of Dudu driving up and down the beach cliffs look pretty good. On the flip side, the 'swimming' car shots were done to death and never looked believable (it's sat on a visible wooden crate!), would have been better mounting a VW body on a motor boat. Also, the car just sort of disappears for ages in the middle of the film which is a bit dull. |
