Visible prefix digit of postal serial number above rear door So, I think this is 1976 model year -- Last edit: 2024-08-22 19:45:55 |

I did, but I found: /vehicle_564060-AM-General-DJ-5-Dispatcher-1977.html /vehicle_759280-AM-General-DJ-5-Dispatcher-1977.html Which it lead me thinking that the colour scheme may have change for Postal's 200-year anniversary or our county 200-year anniversary |

Or were they all repainted in 1979? |

That is a good question dhill_cb7 I'm still searching this site and was able to find some kind of clues for these AM General model years. I did find one at: /vehicle_451613-AM-General-FJ-9-1975.html#Comment1671392 Went to wayback archive: https://web.archive.org/web/20160819010723/http://www.llv.com/history.php |

I have researched this information from Wikipedia page and found some discrepancies from the source and my memory and others. The 1979 source is from the book that was published by the Postal service in 2022 which referenced with 1979 paint scheme: https://about.usps.com/publications/pub100.pdf But my memory came out wee bit earlier than that. Possibility started in 1976 due to USA's Bicentennial anniversary that may have changed the colour scheme such as this: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:American_revolution_bicentennial.svg This refuted my memory: Link to "commons.wikimedia.org" with the 1976 version of DJ-5 Dispatcher as shown there. Also, there /vehicle_564060-AM-General-DJ-5-Dispatcher-1977.html and /vehicle_759280-AM-General-DJ-5-Dispatcher-1977.html |
