no its derived from Iveco. previously it was called Ashok leyland Iveco cargo. |

That's the original Ford Cargo cab, designed before Iveco took over Ford's European truck business. Ashok Leyland may have adopted it because of their relationship with Iveco, but there wasn't any Iveco input into the design. |

This one indeed has badging like the Indian made "Ashok-Leyland Iveco Cargo". Good pics of trucks badged this way are in book "Iveco 1975-2005" by M. Condolo. Polish annual truck/buses catalogue from 1998 "Ciężarówki świata" says that such truck was made by Ashok already in 1993. In mentioned above Italian book, the year of production start in India is not exactly mentioned, but it says that machines were moved from UK to India, when in UK the production of the new (Euro)Cargo begun - this fits to 1992/1993. -- Last edit: 2024-06-30 22:51:51 |
