I have added more light to these next two pics for a better identification. As the scene is (supposedly) in Tokyo (but filmed in USA with some scenes of Paris) and this car is used as taxi, can be this car a modified (in front part) De Soto Airstream?? Edited: I also submit main pic (next thumbnail) with more light for a better identification -- Last edit: 2008-10-14 14:04:25 |

Almost looks like a '37 Plymouth except it has a split windshield. www.allpar.com/history/plymouth/1937.html Could be '36 Chevy? www.allvintageweddingcars.com.au/images/basil1.jpg forums.aaca.org/misc/24299.jpg -- Last edit: 2008-10-15 02:09:33 |

For me it is not an American car but an english 1936 Flying Standard Sixteen.Points of spotting are the grille , front and rear suicide doors, belt molding and prominent highly placed door hinges. |

Agreed, typical 'Standard' radiator grille with the pennant/flag top. |

Yes, a Standard 16 or 20 (they were the same except for cylinder bore). But it is later than 1936- probably 1937-8, with the later painted grill design. The early grill also tapered to a point at the bottom. -- Last edit: 2010-03-16 15:37:15 |

The Flying Sixteen was dropped in 1937 leaving the 1938 Standard Flying Twenty [20BA] (edit) and the Flying Fourteen [14BA] with all suicide doors. Fourteen /vehicle_1314282-Standard-Flying-Fourteen-1938.html look the best match from the quality of the movie's pictures/ -- Last edit: 2019-11-08 21:56:25 |
