No - Israeli (and Greek) Heralds were built in Malta. But Israel did build things with Herald bits - the Autocar Sussita (developed by Reliant) initially had Ford 105E entrails, but switched to Herald 1147cc in 1965 and a partnership with Triumph which led to the Carmel/Gilboa 4 door switching to Herald 13/60 engines in 68. Assembly of UK Triumph 1300 with 1493cc (so Triumph 1500) also from 68+. Then in 1970 assembly of unrelated (apart from Michelotti styling) Hino Contessa 1300cc stopped, so government allowed Triumph to also build normal 1300s with 1296cc. |
