I think there is a script AUTOCAR DIESEL on the hood https://www.bigmacktrucks.com/topic/62502-1962-autocar-dc87oh-tractor/ |

You're right. The older grill design proves it's not a DK-Series, but rather an earlier DC-Series. The thing that is kind of a pain with the early DC-Series models is how many different variations were built. The model name is based on the BBC length of the truck, and Autocar made so many different hood lengths. (DC-75, DC-87, DC-93, DC-95, DC-97, DC-100, DC-103, DC-200, DC-203, + more!) Thankfully, it doesn't appear that the model names were changed when the trucks were exported. (This has been known to have been done with some trucks in Mexico) But for accuracy sake, I'm not going to just guess the BBC length to determine the model, probably best to just default it. -> Autocar DC-Series |

Also, since we know this truck has a 6x4 chassis, which would be indicated in the actual model name. (DC-10064 for example) Should the [64] be added as a chassis code if the exact model is unknown, or should it just be left out so long as the series name is listed? -- Last edit: 2025-01-30 17:25:04 |

Thank you for the profound derivation, as the chassis code is identical to the type and as long as this is not exactly clear, you could also specify xxx64 as the chassis code by default. |
