If it were pretending to be an American van, it wouldn't have a 1950's-style front end, like most Transits did. And from what I know about them, this one looks older than a 1972. |

That is the front end used for the diesel engined Transits. First year: 1965. |

Ahh, that explains it. I knew it had the lettering of the Ford Trucks of the late-1960's and early-1970's, but I wasn't sure of why it had the older front end. Of course, both versions look too 1950's to me. It's vitually impossible to find any Ford Transits in the USA, but I've seen enough of them in books, news footage. and European movies to know what they look like. |

Sorry, I only said it was pretending to be an American van because it had an American-style number plate. I didn't mean to suggest that it had been modified. Not having seen the film, I assume that this scene is supposed to be taking place somewhere in the US, although I may be wrong. I imagine that there weren't many genuine American cars in Poland or the USSR and most people in the Soviet bloc would not have recognised a Ford Transit as being from Europe rather than the US. |
