Nice find! It's a 1960 Gordon GT. Powered with 4.6Litre V8 Chevrolet , 294hp!... very rare car |

Designed by Giugiaro working at Bertone at this time. |

Yes, just 20 seconds ago I've read that at wikipedia. |

I think this is THE Gordon GT. It is the prototype. All the following cars were badged Gordon-Keeble. |

It is not the prototype - the plate is different, the protoype was registered 472LKX - see here - http://www.gordonkeeble.org.uk/html/_the_gordon_gt-_the_prototype.html. It is probably an early production Gordon-Keeble. Maybe more investigation on that site will tell us more. |

I thought it was the prototype because it has a combined turn indicator and sidelight whereas all the other examples have separate ones. But it does have a badge and the prototype doesn't. But if it isn't the prototype then it should be listed as a Gordon-Keeble, shouldn't it? |

I agree that it is probably an early production car so therefore Gordon-Keeble. However in the hope that there is more information available I have e-mailed gordonkeeble.org.uk for any further details. |

As a past owner of one of these beasts (No. 72) - IMHO this HAS to be the prototype for several reasons. 1) It's 1961 and the first production car was 1964 2) The turn indicator was only like this on the prototype 3) Careful examination of the bodywork just above the front bumper clearly shows a 'fold' or moulding in the body work - the prototype was metal, all the production cars were fiberglass and did not have this feature. 4) The hood (bonnet) scoop is wider on the productions cars - still a dummy though! I suspect the 'badge' and the license plate are from the film-makers, it'll be interesting to see what Charles Giles (Club Historian) makes of this. Extra clue: - the hood scoop goes all the way back to the windshield on the prototype - it tapers on production cars Now I'll have t find a copy of the movie! -- Last edit: 2008-12-07 02:18:16 |

Update, I emailed the club and here's the reply I got >>>>> Hi David, Thanks for the email and good wishes. The car featured in "The Green Helmet" is indeed what we know as the (G-K) Prototype - Strictly speaking it was / is the one and only "Gordon GT"...which had a steel body, 4.6 litre engine, and other differences in detail - but parked alongside its later siblings it would blend very well... I'm not sure of the exact reason but during filming the car wore the Reg HLW 493 rather than its true identity, 472 LKX. |

Same exact car years later![]() "...The metal Bodied Prototype - The body shell was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, a young designer working with Bertone in Italy and constructed by them to take the Chassis which was made in Slough...."
