I'm fairly sure this is a 1911 Fiat S74, which had a 14 litre 4 cylinder engine! |

It is. There is still one in existence. 14 litres, 4 cylinders and it's got a starting handle. I don't think I would want to try! Amazingly, someone thought this wasn't good enough so they built a 28 litre engine, still with 4 cylinders -- Last edit: 2008-11-15 13:35:26 |

That S74 visited NZ about 15 or more years ago. The usual method of starting it was by pushing. Very impressive watching it fire up in a cloud of oil smoke - like a big old aircraft piston engine does. That surviving car is chassis #1 - the car that Caleb Bragg used to win the US Gp at Savannah in 1911. Note it has ohc along with the a 200mm stroke (160mm bore) so the engine fills the bonnet. |

Push starting seems the best option! It would take a very brave man to try that starting handle... |
