License plate indicates 1970. As far as I know this car was sold in Holland as 'Daimler Limousine'. Maybe we should move [DS420] to chassis code field? |

I think that was common in the UK also. All brochures and handbooks refer to it as "Daimler Limousine" and DS420 is not mentioned. In the 1970s and 1980s they were commonly known as the Daimler Limousine (or "Limo" as shortened name) within Jaguar at Browns Lane, Coventry. ![]() ![]() ![]() If it was to change to Daimler Limousine [DS420] for all listings I can see no problem other than how it was to be done. |

I guess we could ask Antoine to change the whole batch ? |

Yes we could. Looking at it further it appears to be a natural progression of the Daimler model numbers that Jaguar did not actually to use. It replaced the Daimler designed DR450 Limousine and I think renaming those or older models is not acceptable. |

Done for the limousine... what about the hearse? "Daimler Hearse [DS420]" ? |

Yes, a contemporary advertisement states the Daimler Hearse "....based on the new Daimler DS420 chassis built to special order".![]() Most were built by the following * Woodall Nicholson later merged with Coleman Milne * Thomas Startin Jr. * Eagle Specialist Vehicles, Wilcox Limousines |

About the ones based on the Majestic Major - the DR450s - I also had some doubts about their correct designation, but a period "Autocar - Road Test" I found on ebay.com also calls them just Daimler Limousine. |

Woodall Nicholson occasionally used the DS420 like a model name in their advertising, but I think it's OK to put it in the chassis code field. "Daimler Hearse" is indeed the most common expression for these. Just for completing Sunbar´s list: Alpe & Saunders also did DS420 hearses, but probably not many. In my estimation Woodall Nicholson/Stratstone, Startins and Wilcox/Eagle cover more than 95% of the DS420 funeral coaches. |
