1929 Durant Deluxe Sport Roadster. Link to "forums.aaca.org" This car would normally have bars on the front of the radiator. http://www.durantcars.com/registry/durant/C1072/29DurantC1072.shtml -- Last edit: 2009-01-11 10:08:39 |

This car attracted my attention because I own one of the few surviving 1929 Durant Roadsters. I've studied the photos and even got a copy of the movie. The car in these pictures is a Durant Roadster made between 1928 and 29, but there are many parts missing that would nail down the exact model and year. The radiator is missing the bars, the bumper is missing, the small lights mounted on the front fenders are not stock, most likely an aftermarket add on. The Deluxe had a chrome plated windshield, the one this car is painted black, something a standard model would have. I also looked at the headlight shells and they appear to be painted black, while the Deluxe model had chromed plated headlight buckets. I think the car started life as either a Deluxe 1929 Model 40 or 60, but was altered many times by the time the movie was shot. Rick |
