F-450's didn't exist when this truck was made. This is an F-350 Super Duty. |

Super Duty F-series trucks were not available until 1997 Link to "en.wikipedia.org" see tenth generation, I guess thats what I get for quoting wikipedia -- Last edit: 2006-05-29 21:19:42 |

Sure they were. From 1986-1996, they were merely tougher versions of the existing F-350. When the F-150 & F-250 were redesinged in 1997, the Super Duty F-Series 250-550 had their own design, which is the one we all know of today. |

I bought a truck like this in 1995, the badge on the side of the truck read F-SUPERDUTY, the title stated the truck was an F-450....17500gvwr |

This is a F-SuperDuty as the inscription states on the fender. Besides there is 10 bolt wheel design on this truck! |

That is a 1988 Ford F-Superduty. They were built from 1987-1997, not to be confused with the 99-08 which we see today. The Superduty model is considered the F450. It is seen on title work and everything else. It follows most of the same characteristics of the F350 but it has larger leaf springs, 16" 10 lug dually wheels, 15,000lbs GVWR, Ambulance Alternator Package, PTO off of the transmission, 2 Wheel Drive (But if you ordered it from factory you could have gotten a OEM 4x4 Conversion Kit, from either Quigley or Salem Kroger, for your F-Superduty).The F-Super Duty (F450)was an incomplete cab and chassisfrom the factory, because it did not have a factory bed installed. I have a 1997 Ford F-Superduty 4x4 Service truck that used to belong to Maryland Department of the Environment Spill Response Teams. |

Thanks for your information. I just have some questions. I'm confused with your "That is a 1988 Ford F-Superduty. They were built from 1987-1997" comment. I thought they were first built in 1988? If they were built starting in 1987, then why do you say it's a 1988? And second of all, how many lugs would F-350 models have? I ask so we know how to differentiate between F-350's and F-Super Duty's. |

The F-350 has 8-lug whereas the F-SuperDuty had 10-lug. |
