Could it be a Cunningham? |

The split grill has me puzzled. I never saw a Cunningham with that kind of grill work. However, if you ignore the grill it does have the general shape. |

It's not a Cunningham. They were MUCH bigger, monster Hemi-V8 powered, and the only Cunninghams not raced and still owned by Briggs Cunningham (i.e sold to the public) were 27 Coupes. The split grille actually says Cisitalia, which would also fit size-wise (1100cc). But the photo is too blurred to tell for sure. -- Last edit: 2006-02-20 23:13:49 |

I'd go with something small and italian (..as Junkman said..Cisitalia...or Nardi...Fiat/Siata ... something of that ilk.!) |

I looked at Cisitalia (split grill) but couldn't find one that that general shape so I gave up. |

There are some big engines in this film. Some of the Allards had big Caddy V8s under that skinny little bonnet. |

It's more like a Maserati A6, 1955-6, Zagato body |

I almost thought it was a BMW 507, but that grille is much too big... not to mention that they didn't exist in '54. |

by the way the grille looked i thought it was a Rover, but i don't think that is a Rover |

If it wasn't for that grille, I would have said AC Ace. I think there's a good chance this car is British in origin as its right hand drive. |

Agree with the comment for Maserati A6 - possibly A6GCS - though earlier date of 1953-ish to match film. Have not found a match for the wingline yet. |

I also believe this car to be the A6GCS Spyder by Frua. The grill is big and takes up most of the front and the blur would make the center part of the grill look wider. I did find a 1953 version on line. http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/4511/Maserati-A6GCS-53-Frua-Spider.html |

This is not a 1953 Maserati A6GCS Frua Spider, as all three cars were left hand driven; see my website http://www.pietro-frua.de/1953_maserati.htm for comparison. -- Last edit: 2020-09-17 20:35:11 |
