Cherokee Wagoneer actually |
◊ 2009-04-25 05:54 |
It's a 1991-92 Cherokee Briarwood |

Is that what that says underneath the Cherokee insignia? Nice tip. |

Yes, Under cherokee, it says "Briarwood". This model replaced the 1984-90 XJ Wagoneer. It had woodgrain trim but unlike the Wagoneer it replaced, it had a Cherokee grille. It was the second most expensive model in the lineup after the Cherokee Limited. |

Was it the "Country" trim level that replaced the "Briarwood" trim level for '93? |

Well, it more or less replaced the Laredo, the Limited and the Briarwood as the XJ lineup was simplified in 1993 (the new ZJ Grand Cherokee now had the most luxurous versions). |

Nice car. |

We all love the cars and movies, that's why we are here. The IMCDb is amazing oracle of vehicles knowledge, but now you're throwing grains of sand into, writing 'nice car' or another nice but not very useful comments. |

I can definitely be wrong, but is this the actual one? If so, then it would be a 1992. http://www.aardvarkprops.com/details.asp?carID=756 |

I agree with you. Have you been in one of these? |

Is there a difference between the 1991 and the 1992 models? -- Last edit: 2016-12-27 03:15:14 |

Not on the Briarwood |

What about the chrome piece above the license plate where it says "Jeep"? Was that available on both models, or was it only available on the 1991 model? -- Last edit: 2016-12-27 03:40:51 |

Doubtful. One was filmed in San Francisco and the other in LA. |
◊ 2016-12-27 03:50 |
The first Homeward Bound was filmed entirely in Oregon actually. |
◊ 2016-12-27 03:52 |
Well, that's even further away |

1991 with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0h2_jd8J2w without Link to "www.2040-cars.com" ( checked on Carfax ) 1992 with Link to "forum.ih8mud.com" https://www.leakecar.com/vehicle/806/1992-Jeep-Cherokee-Briarwood/ without Link to "www.cherokeeforum.com" ( checked on Carfax ) since it was available in 1991 with or without and most of the ones that were said to be 1992 don't ( but a few do ) , i think it was part of the option list and that option was took off the list somewhere in the 1992 MY but it is only my opinion -- Last edit: 2016-12-27 05:05:09 |

I guess the chrome piece is an option on both the 1991 and 1992 models. However, it also could've been brand new when it was filmed in 1992. -- Last edit: 2017-01-14 16:25:23 |

if there is no visual difference, or the year can't be found ( license plate, VIN, etc ), we take the first possible model year, which is 1991 in this case |
◊ 2016-12-27 06:10 |
The license plate on her butt says 2YEP598. I can't find her license plate anywhere on the California Smog site. So I guess we can leave our friend here listed as a 1991 model. |

I hope this one here is still going strong today. |
