Wth these grills and bumpers, these are the face-lifted cars of the last serie (intro. in 1984 for 1985, made to 1986). In Britain their names were Minx and Rapier: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/keith.adams/rootes/index.htm?alpineminxf.htm No idea were is the difference - but as we can see Rapiers had chromed handles and window frames and the second car from the thumbs above has them in black (maybe it can be Minx???) Anyway both are British made, the production of hatchbacks was stopped in France in 1983, later they were made only in Spain (150) and UK. -- Last edit: 2009-06-11 17:32:35 |

This page: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/keith.adams/rootes/index.htm?alpineminxf.htm is wrong then? |

Why wrong? |

Because it is written, like Minx and Rapier would be the model names and not sub-versions of Solara/Alpine. -- Last edit: 2011-02-13 22:15:38 |

I remember Minx and Rapier as editions not models, and the info I have now supports this. My dad had a Solara Minx in 1985-6 for a few months but I can't tell you now what the badges said, particularly at rear. Also to mention - there were March 82 Alpine Arrow and Sept 82 Alpine Stereo editions, both of which had side striping/tapes, but irrelevant for this one. And Solara had Pullman specials as well. -- Last edit: 2011-02-13 23:55:31 |

See http://www.flickr.com/photos/triggerscarstuff/3477886444/ - 1983 Talbot Alpine, supposedly LS although those photos look too well equipped for LS (tints, alloys two-tone). One consolation - the 1985 Alpine Minx in thumbs is definite due to grille. |

Interesting to note that the same guy has a load of screen caps from Minder on his photostream. |

Further photos suggest we might be OK with this livery as it is also true for 1985 Alpine Rapier - see Link to "www.flickr.com" - B423 TDU (Coventry plate - possibly fleet car?) comes on HPI check as 1985 Talbot Alpine Rapier with 1592cc. Similar with Solara - Link to "www.flickr.com" - B63 JNN comes on HPI check as 1985 Talbot Solara Rapier with 1592cc. Both HPI checks give Rapier as the edition, not the model. -- Last edit: 2011-02-13 23:48:58 |

Still interesting they had such two-tone versions also earlier. |
