That's a fantastic looking car! Looks like a coachbuilt special. Could it be a Ghia-bodied Chrysler of some sort?? |
◊ 2006-02-26 19:33 |
I don't know what it is but I want one. I also thought it looked like a Ghia design but couldn't find anything like it. |

The movie is shot in Zürich and Geneva, maybe it is made by some Swiss coachbuilder? |
◊ 2006-02-26 20:43 |
I think too, about a US chassis with specific body... and want one ,too ! won't be easy ... |
◊ 2006-02-26 23:33 |
Put me down for one as well.! looks good ...never come across this before.! |

I am very curious about this one too At first sight it reminded by the Aston Martin DB4, but it would have been too easy. |

Am guessing: Dual-Ghia (Chrysler-powered) 1957-1963 |
◊ 2006-02-27 09:54 |
I had a look on several site about Dual-Ghia, and I didn't find any Coupé looking like this one http://www.elisanet.fi/ralf/dualghia.htm I'm not convinced |

Same for me |
◊ 2006-02-27 10:18 |
It is not a Dual Ghia and anyway looks much more Pinin Farina to me than any Ghia. |

The body is without doubt a Ghia realisation of ca 1953-1954 .But for the chassis further research will be necessary. This car does have headlights mounted on top of the front fenders , not like the Chrysler Ghias or Chrysler GS-1's that had lower , slightly inboard mounted headlights with the front part of the front fenders slightly extruding at each side of those lights.Furthermore , there is an airscoop on the hood , a feature also not seen on the known Chrysler bodied cars and the grille does not seem to have the more oval shape as on Chryslers .So another chassis ( Jaguar , Aston Martin...) or a modified GS-1 ? |

The closest thing that I found until now is the make "Cisitalia", but it is still not that |

With Pilou's hint I found that: http://www.ghia-aigle.info/graphics/pics_big/1955_studebaker_01.jpg "1955 Studebaker Champion 2+2 Sportcoupé" ... looks close and: Ghia, Swiss ("Ghia-Aigle" is in Switzerland, we talked about Swiss production above ) -- Last edit: 2006-02-27 11:19:18 |

The picture you refer to is the one with the 1956 Alfa Romeo 1900 SS chassis , not the Studebaker one .Yes , given some distotrtion of the movie picture , it could be the Alfa Romeo 1900 SS Coupe by Ghia Aigle of 1956. |
◊ 2006-02-27 11:35 |
why is the file called "1955 studebaker" then? They put the name above the picture on that page, cf the first pic which is obviously the Mercedes Kombi and not the Citroën Cabriolet. -- Last edit: 2006-02-27 11:36:05 |

I agree with you Antoine, the picture is Ghia-Aigle Coupé based on Studebaker Champion, the mention Alfa Romeo 1900SS concerns the text below and not the pciture.... anyway good find! |

Following the links given for the Alfa Romeos I find something completely different: Link to "www.barchetta.cc" Link to "www.barchetta.cc" Link to "www.barchetta.cc" This picture is certainly named '1955 Studebaker Champion 2+2 Sportcoupé' http://www.ghia-aigle.info/graphics/pics_small/1955_studebaker_01.jpg ...and the wheelbase moves into the right direction. |
◊ 2006-02-27 14:40 |
Yes you are right sorry , the picture text is above the picture , so Studebaker Champion Ghia-Aigle Coupe 1955. |

I wanted see the unobstructed car so I made a composite picture without the man. You found the right car. Excellent find!! I don't care if is is a Studebaker, I still want one. -- Last edit: 2006-02-27 20:39:47 |

On the page, where you find the correct picture, we read about: "1963 Background vehicle in Geneva street scene in the movie “Le petit soldat” (The Little Soldier) directed by Jean-Luc Godardthe". The world is very small... -- Last edit: 2008-01-27 22:18:03 |

Hello, Just found this forum - it's great. Has anyone more information about the Studebaker by Ghia-Aigle? If this wonderful car still exists, where is it today. Any information is welcomed. Best regards, voli61 |

front view: Link to "www.dreamcar.ch" "On the website of Ghia-Aigle he is described as 1955 Studebaker Champion 2 + 2 Sportcoupe. The first owner should have been an engineer Brandt. The vehicle has been part of a street scene in 1963 in the movie "Le petit soldat", "The Little Soldier", "The Little Soldier" and has since been lost." -- Last edit: 2017-09-12 17:47:38 |
