Question about Pre-War DKW. Are "F5", "F7", "F8" part of the name or chassis-code?... Both are presents on the model listed |

"F5" ,"F7", "F8" are part of the name , since they are successive series ,"F" meaning "Front" for front wheel drive( "F5" 1935-36 , "F7" 1937-38 , " F8" 1939-40 )In each of these series there was a less powerfull " Reichsklasse" 2 cyl 2 stroke 584 cc and a more powerfull " Meisterklasse" 2 cyl 2 stroke 692 cc. The "F8" Reichsklasse engine was enlarged to 684 cc just before the otbreak of the war and this " F8" became the postwar IFA F-8.The car here is a DKW F5 Front Luxus Roadster of 1935-36. |
