Looks British. I cannot combinate this shape with a German van. @Weasel: no big thing. Until 1990 there were many British cars in West-Berlin, due the British Army in its Sector. |

No, it's older than that. It's an Austin/Morris/BMC J2, 1956+. IIRC the military favoured Morrises. |

^Correct the British Army bought Morris J2 '15cwt Utility Vans' and 'Secure Mail Vans' from August 1958 through to 1967. The initial contract was for about 1,000 vans and was followed by smaller batches (20 or 30 etc.) as needed. These were followed by BMC JU250 vans from June 1968 which used mostly the same body body panels other than the front end. Therefore this could also be a BMC JU250 van although the total quantity purchased was probably about 400 and less than the Morris J2. Therefore the Morris J2 continued in use for some time, and both vans were eventually replaced with Bedford CF vans. Austin vans under 1-ton were do not appear to have been purchased at the time until after the BMC JU250 became the Austin or Morris JU250. Austins were however common for saloon cars and vans or trucks over 1-ton. |
