1303 with flat wind screen?!!! And built in 1971?! Well ok I'm not Bettle expert, but it is a bit strange. It doesn't has the boot lid of 1302. To me it looks like 1300/1500 (look at the engien size). -- Last edit: 2009-08-02 20:42:09 |

Hi, can anyone tell me how you use that site? |
◊ 2009-08-04 15:04 |
I'm bored to see in all the Top Gear's page, your copy paste info about the plate... can you stop to do this useless thing? In particular when someone has already chenge the correct year and extra info ![]() |
◊ 2009-08-04 21:13 |
Well I might as well not even contribute then. I personally find all the info that the DVLA useful, but each to his own I suppose. |
◊ 2009-08-04 21:49 |
IMHO, The info of DVLA/HPI are useful only in case of the year and the extra info about a car, are wrong or not added. |
◊ 2009-08-05 00:49 |
Could be, if the you check the DVLA-informations (one of the few times, when this info's, posted by heartbreak-kid are helpful, otherwise I've the same opinion as Neon). The wheels are replaced and not original, the colour probably, too. And the windshield-rubber also. It's a repro, the chrome-trim (resp.faked plastic-chrome) inside is missing. And sure, it's definetely, for 100%, no 1302 or 1303 "Super Beetle" (...we K 70-freaks would be happy, if we could have ANY windshield-rubber ![]() |

A few guesses based on the comments so far. (1) Date of first registration - This was probably when this car was re-built from parts found from various other scrapped or un-repairable cars. (2) Date of manufacture - This could apply to either the date for the donor engine or when the original body's chassis number was made. It does not have to apply to both. The 'J' 1971 registration could have been transferred from any (including non-VW) car or bike of that year or actually belonged to the VW engine or chassis as originally built. (3) Licence due to expire after only one year - A UK car's tax always expires at the end of the month. So even if its not taxed or registered on the first day of the month it will expire on the last day of the month (the 30th/31st for months except February) the tax runs out. So cars are always taxed from the first day of the following month (01 08 2009 in this case). It appears someone has re-built it and decided to sell it within the first year rather than keep it. (4) The car could be (although not definitely) left-hand drive by the door mirror being on the left side? Rather than being a USA import, is it possible that it was a USA spec car that was originally owned and imported from Germany by a member of the US forces? |

Hmm what was not in my post : CO2 Emissions 0g/Km -> not useful as it is just empty, not the real value Fuel Type Petrol -> not useful as they were all petrol anyway Export Marker Export -> may bad, I missed it, I should have included it, it is important info... or maybe it changed between your post and my post ? I wonder how I could miss it. Vehicle Colour MAROON -> if same as car on pic, not very useful Vehicle Type Approval null -> not useful, it is guessed from other fields (date & license) |

I think you can't check the year (and other details) on the DVLA if you don't know the brand of car. http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/ Here you click in the "Vehicle enquiry". There are also some other sites, but I do not know much about them. |
